You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Okay, let’s start this step by drawing out some top guides and shapes that form a typical frame for a bird in flight. Draw a small circle for the head and then draw the shape of the wings in flight. Then you will draw the egg-shaped body and then the shape of the tail.

Step 2

In this next step you will start outlining the feather wings as shown to you here. Next, outline the crown feathers on the phoenix’s head sloping back. The next thing to start is sketching the eyes and beak.

Step 3

Now that you’ve dawned two steps, it’s time to start sketching out some more feathered wings and crowns in step three. You’ll start by sketching small ripples of feather detail on the wings closest to the phoenix’s body. Sketch some wavy feathers on the chest and then again on the right wing. Finish shaping and contouring the feather crown on top of his head and then more detail on his face.

Step 4

Start sketching some more details and feather strokes for the right wing on the edges. Once done, you can sketch the rest of the phoenix’s beak and color the inside of the mouth. Sketch the bordered feathers on the right cheek of the bird, then add some design details on the feathers and face.

Step 5

You’ve reached the second to the last step and what I want you to do now is start sketching the detailed wavy feathers on the phoenix’s belly. You’ll also sketch out the long feathers for the tail and once that’s done, you can start erasing some of the principles you used from step one.

Step 6

Now you have come to the final drawing step and what you will do now is sketch out the clawed feet and legs as well as a band around the ankle of the phoenix. He has two feathers dangling from a piece of leather strap that you also need to pull out. Finish the curled tail feathers and detail them. Delete the rest of the rules and move on to the next step.

Step 7

Here’s what you’ve finished the firebird will look like when you’re done. All that’s left to do now is color and you’ve just completed this step-by-step fire phoenix tutorial.
