Hyena Drawing Step by Step
Step 1. Draw the Eyes and Nose
Start by sketching the hyena’s face. Draw irregular circles for the eyes and nose. Draw two smaller circles in a row inside each eye. Shade between them to indicate the pupils. Shade small ovals inside the nose to indicate the nostrils. Draw curved lines above the eyes to indicate the eyelids, and another line to connect the eyes and nose.
Step 2. Finish the Head
Use curved lines to sketch the outline of the hyena’s face. Note the overlapping fur and the outline of the mouth. Draw a curve below the nose and at the corner of the mouth.
Draw the ears using pairs of long curved lines. Connect them at the tip with a series of “U” shaped lines. Use the pairs of curved lines to outline the head, including the inner ears, the tuft of fur between the ears, and the sides of the face.
Step 3. Draw the Back and Tail
Use a long curved line to sketch the sloping back and the top of the hyena’s tail. Draw the bottom of the tail using connected curves.
Step 4. The front legs
Use a series of overlapping curves to outline the furry neck and chest. Then, use a pair of lines to outline the legs. Connect the bottom lines with a series of short, overlapping lines to form the toes.
Draw a series of curved lines to outline the furry belly, upper legs, and base of the neck. Then, extend a pair of lines to form the lower legs. Connect the bottom lines with overlapping curves to form the feet and toes.
Step 5. The hind legs
Draw the hind legs. Use a series of curved lines to outline the furry upper legs, then extend a pair of lines for the lower legs. Connect them with overlapping curves to form the feet.
Step 6. Add the pattern details
Draw circles, ovals, and irregular shapes on the animal’s body to indicate its spots.
Step 7. Coloring
Color your cartoon hyena. Hyenas are usually shades of brown, cream, and gray with darker spots.
