Refer to the shape of Sri Lanka
Look at a reference map of Sri Lanka to familiarize yourself with its shape and main geographical features. You can find maps online or in geography books.
Step 1: Draw a basic sketch
Using a pencil and ruler, lightly sketch the basic outline of Sri Lanka on paper. Start with a rectangle to create the overall outline of the island. Now let’s add details about Sri Lanka’s coastline, including the northern peninsula, the eastern coast and the distinctive southern tip. Remember to include dips and curves of the coastline.
Step 2: Draw a lion shape
To make the map of this country more prominent and immediately recognizable, we draw a lion with a sword like on the Sri Lankan flag, adding motifs like the flag.
Step 3: Add details like on the flag
Use a ruler to draw straight lines to illustrate details like those on the flag printed on the map.
Step 4: Color your map
If you want, you can color your map with colored pencils or markers. Color red, orange, yellow as shown.
