You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start with a basic sketch of the cat’s head. Refer to the orange and blue instructions if you need it. Don’t get caught up in detail and keep your lines gentle.

Step 2

After you have your sketch, go in and define the features a bit. I used the F pencil for this. I find it easier to start with eyes and an outward look.

Step 3

Complete the definition of lines and outlines in the fur stripes. Make sure your sketch is beautiful and sturdy.

Step 4

Take a moment to shade your background a bit. This makes the foreground pop out a bit more.

Step 5

Lightly shade in darker areas of the cat. Use a cloth or paper towel to make your shine quite smooth.

Step 6

Start shading from top to bottom starting from the ear. I use the F pencil for darker lines and H for lighter ones.

Step 7

Ignore the forehead and eye shade.

Step 8

Now, narrow the gap between the ears and eyes. Pay attention to the direction of the line when drawing feathers. Keep your lines short and confident.

Step 9

Shade the shade at the rest of the face. Notice how I removed the beard around my mouth in preparation for the next step.

Step 10

Start completing the drawing by defining the body and beard. It’s fun adding a few strands of beard to your art how much of a difference it will make!

Step 11

Perfect your shading and fix as many mistakes as possible. And there you have it! That’s how I portray my cat. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Let me know if you try it!
