Step 1: Sketch Two Guide Lines
Start by setting up the basic framework for the drawing. Lightly draw two vertical guide lines to establish the main proportions and position of the figures. These lines will help you keep the drawing balanced and correctly positioned on the page.
Step 2: Divide the Guide Frame
Next, divide the guide frame into measured sections. Mark the important heights along the vertical lines as shown in the reference. These measurements will serve as guides for positioning the heads and bodies of the couple.
Step 3: Draw the Girl’s Body and Long Dress
Using the guidelines, begin drawing the girl. Sketch her upper body and gradually extend the lines downward to create her long flowing dress. Keep the dress elegant and slightly curved to match the pose in the reference. At this stage, focus on the overall silhouette rather than small details.
Step 4: Draw the Girl’s Head
Now add the girl’s head above her body. Lightly sketch the shape of her head and face, then add her hair and the basic position of her neck. Keep her head and body aligned with the guidelines you created in the previous steps.
Step 5: Draw the Man Kneeling with a Rose
Next, draw the man beside the girl in a romantic proposal pose, kneeling on one knee and holding out a rose toward her. Start with his head and upper body, then sketch his bent leg and the leg supporting his kneeling position. Finally, draw his arm extended toward the girl with the rose in his hand.

Step 7: Refine and Finish the Drawing
Finally, carefully review the entire drawing. Erase the unnecessary construction lines and extra details, then go over the important outlines with a darker pencil. Refine the couple’s silhouettes, clothing, hair, rose, and tree branches. Add some darker pencil shading where needed to give the drawing more depth and contrast.
