How to Draw an Ape – Cartoon Gorilla

Ape Drawing Step by Step

Step 1

Alright, let’s get started. Start with an egg shape for the head, then draw a guide on the face. You will also need to draw a body shape or outline.

Step 2

This ape would have a very long and square jaw structure. Start with the top of the head like that, then draw the convex part of the eyebrow, then the overall shape of the lower part of the face.

Step 3

Create a straight line through the center of the forehead like so. This will be for low hanging eyebrows. Next, draw the eyes, then color the pupils. Once that’s done, you can make a mark on your face to separate the hairy areas from the smooth skin. Add the same nostril, mouth and slit between the nose. Don’t forget the tooth.

Step 4

For the next step, all you have to do is pull out the long trunk-like arms followed by the giant-sized fists that apes and gorillas use to get around. Draw in some chests, then draw in the ears.

Step 5

This is where you will draw the other arm, but with this arm you will also draw the shoulder. Once that’s done, create a liner on the wrist to separate the hair, then draw finger lines on the fist.

Step 6

Finally, draw the gibbon’s back pad, then draw the hind legs or hind legs. Notice how the legs and feet resemble the arms and hands. Erase your mistakes so you have a clear picture to color.
