Step 1
Start by sketching the fox’s ears and eyes. Use a pair of curved lines to wrap the shaded shape of the inner ear, stretching to form patches around the eyes.
Allow lines to meet at endpoints. Shade the lobe shapes, leaving only the whites of the eyes. Complete the ears by drawing lines from the top of the head to the tips. Then detail the crown of the head and the furrowed eyebrows with short lines.
Step 2
Use a series of short and curved lines that meet at jagged points to wrap the fur along the fox’s cheeks. Connect them with a curved line, outlining the muzzle. Use curved lines to draw the neck above the ears and trace the mouth opening.
Draw triangles in the mouth to indicate the teeth. Shade the irregularly shaped nose above the mouth. Finally, detail the base of the ear and the tip of the nose with short lines.
Step 3
Draw the biceps forearm. Use overlapping curves to create the upper and lower parts of the limb. Then, draw a leg or hand, using curved lines that meet at sharp points to trace each nail.
Step 4
Draw the remaining front leg. Again, use overlapping curves to create muscular limbs. Then draw the claws using pairs of curves that meet at sharp points.
Step 5
Use curved lines to outline your back, shoulders, abs, and hind legs. Then draw the claws using pairs of curves that meet at sharp points.
Step 6
Start drawing the fox’s long tails. Use pairs of curves that meet at points to draw the first three tails.
Step 7
Draw three more tails, again using long curved lines that meet at points. Notice how some of the tails overlap.
Step 8
Draw the remaining three tails, again using long curved lines that meet at points. Delete as needed because the tails overlap.
Step 9
Add texture to the fur by drawing multiple curved lines along the length of the tail and hind legs.
Step 10
Color your cartoon fox. We’ve shaded our example with a foxy-orange color. Pokémon Ninetails is white like the arctic fox.
