You can draw a character sketch first with a pencil by following these steps:
Step 1
As you can see you will start by creating three different shapes, all of which will help form the body frame. Sketch in the face guide then proceed to step two.

Next, draw Joy’s face shape, then draw along the short hairline close to her face.

Now start drawing in her face. Start with big eyes then her nose and mouth.

Now that Joy’s face is finished being attracted, you can start the body. Start with her neck, then her shoulders, arms and hands rest on her hips.
