Today I will show you how to draw Appa from Avatar The Last Airbender. Appa is the last bison of the sky, and a faithful companion to Aang. He’s also one of the cutest characters ever included in an anime. So get your pencils ready and let’s learn how to draw Appa!
You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below
Step 1
To start Appa, we first need to draw three overlapping circles as shown in the image. These circles will form Appa’s head and torso.
Step 2
In the smallest circle, draw Appa’s oval nose with an inner curve for his nostrils.
Step 3
Next, draw the outline of Appa’s lower jaw and tufts of fur on each side of its nose.
Step 4
Draw a jagged line along the bottom edge of the circle on his head to form some shaggy fur covering his eyes.
Step 5
Now erase all your overlapping lines and draw Appa’s two upward curved horns protruding from the top of her head.
Step 6
Appa is shaped like Totoro’s Catbus, and it has more legs than your average Bison—six legs to be exact! Draw the outline of each leg of Appa as shown in the image.
Step 7
Draw three big toes at the end of each of Appa’s feet.
Step 8
Next, we’ll draw Appa’s large, flat tail and a few lines below its body to form what looks like scales.
Step 9
Just like Aang, we need to give Appa the famous arrow shape on his head and body.
Step 10
All that’s left to do now is color Appa a bit. He has a rather dull skin tone. There is only a light beige color on the top, and a gray color on its underside and horns.
