You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Dobermann has a rather unique and distinctive look, and that can make learning how to draw a Dobermann a little difficult!

In this tutorial, we will break it down into smaller parts to make the more complex aspects easier for you.

Unlike many dogs, Dobermanns have a very short, silky coat. For that reason, we will use smooth lines for all of these Dobermann contours.

For this first step, we will draw the head and face of this Dobermann.

Start by drawing a large, triangular shape of the nose, then draw the mouth with the tongue sticking out underneath.

The eyes will be quite small with small circles on top, and then you can end up with large pointed ears above the head.

Finish with the beginning of the chest, and then we can move on to step 2.

Step 2 – Now, draw Dobermann’s front legs

In the second step of your Dobermann drawing, we will add the dog’s front legs. These legs will be long, thin, and thin, and they will extend from the bottom where the chest ends.

The paws of the front legs will go at the bottom and they will be drawn with some small circular lines.

Finish with some curves to define the upper leg muscles, and then move on to step 3!

Step 3 – Draw the back of Dobermann

Continuing with this Dobermann drawing tutorial, we will now draw the back of the dog.

This will be an easy part to add, as all you need is to add a circle going down from the base of the neck and roll it up.

This particular Dobermann’s tail looks like it’s attached to the base, and you can draw it into a small circle on the back of the dog.

Finally for this step, you can add an inward curve to Dobermann’s belly before we move on to step 4 of this tutorial.

Step 4 – Next, draw this Dobermann’s first hind legs

Now we’ll start adding the first hind legs to this Dobermann drawing. This first hind leg will be on the right hand side.

It will look quite similar to the first leg you drew, but it will be slightly more curved and rounded. Then add a small dot at the end of each toe for this Dobermann’s toenail.

There will be a gap at the foot of this leg, but we’ll fill that void as we add the second second leg and any final details in the next step of the tutorial!

Step 5 – Add Final Details to Your Dobermann Drawing

This is the second to last step of this Dobermann drawing tutorial, and before coloring this dog in the next step, we first have some final details to add.

First, we’ll draw the second second leg on the left. This will have a very similar shape to the first back leg you drew.

Once the sketch is complete, we will add some details throughout the Dobermann.

You can draw some horizontal lines through the midpoint of the legs to start, then draw some smaller circles over the chest.

Next, draw some small details inside the ears and eyes, then you are ready for the final step!

Before that, you can also add details like a necklace around your neck or a fun backdrop to really complete it.

Step 6 – Finish your Dobermann drawing with color

In the final step of your Dobermann drawing, we will finalize by coloring your work.

One of the hallmarks of this dog is its dark coloration, and this is what we did in our example image.

The color scheme is for dogs with most of the body a deep, dark black, with other elements like the undersides and spots on the chest being lighter brown.

If you want a more realistic look for your own Dobermann drawing, then you can use our reference image as an example to guide you.

You can also use some more stylish colors to interpret the image less realistic but no less fun!
