Step 1. Sketch the roof
First, draw a horizontal rectangle to outline the roof of the building.
Step 2. Shape the walls
Now, add two long vertical lines attached to the roof. Then, form the base of the building by drawing a thin rectangle.
Step 3. Add porch
Start by drawing a horizontal rectangle to form the porch. Then, create vertical lines on each side of the roof to form the base of the porch.
Step 4. Draw the door
Draw two vertical strips then add a vertical line in the middle to form the main door.
Step 5. Attach Windows
Form evenly spaced squares attached to the building.
Step 6. Complete the building drawing for children
Let’s color our simple drawing of a building for kids! First, color the doors and windows with a light blue pencil. Next, color the main door frame with a dark blue pen. Now, shade the roofs with a green pencil. Color the foot of the porch with a light gray pencil. Then, shade the building’s background with a dark gray pencil. Finally, paint the walls of the building with a white pencil.
