Step 1. Sketch the frame
Draw two horizontal rectangles to outline the abacus frame.
Step 2. Add beam
Next, add a horizontal bar near the top of the frame.
Step 3. Shape the bars
Now, create nine evenly spaced vertical bars.
Step 4. Draw the particles above
Draw an oval attached to each bar above the beam, representing the upper beads. Make sure to remove any overlaps.
Step 5. Add the beads below
Then, sketch four more ovals on each beam below the beam to add the lower beads of the abacus.
Step 6. Complete the abacus drawing
It’s time to make your abacus colorful! Use green, orange, pink, and blue pens to draw each row of beads. Then, color the frame, beam and bars of the abacus with a brown pen.
