How to draw Cerberus Step by Step

The most famous dog monster of myths and legends. We believe it to be Cerberus, first appearing in ancient Greek mythology. It was originally the creation of Typhon and Echidna (Tartarus and Gaia), a three-headed dog, whose mixture of poison came out of its mouth. Cerberus protects the way out of the kingdom of the dead Hades, preventing the dead from returning to the world of the living. Later, this strange creature was defeated by Hercules in one of his exploits.

How to draw Cerberus

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

The lesson on how to draw Cerberus begins with sketching his skeleton. We need to draw a regular dog skeleton, but with three heads. So let’s outline the three heads, chest and pelvis using simple ovals. Next, outline the neck, spine, tail and legs with simple lines.

Step 2

Now, with the help of light lines outline Cerberus’ eyes and mouth. Next sketch the three necks in the form of a cylinder. Then connect the chest and pelvis, creating the torso of our terrible dog monster. Thicken the paws and tail and move on to the third step of the lesson on how to draw Cerberus.

Step 3

Now let’s start adding details to Cerberus. We need to try hard and draw details on all three heads of an ominous dog. Draw the eyes, nose, mouth, outline of the head and move on to the next step of the drawing tutorial on how to draw Cerberus.

Step 4

We continue to work on the details of the heads of Cerberus. Removing all unnecessary guides from the head, we need to pull out sharp teeth with gums. Don’t forget to draw wrinkles on top like in our example.

Step 5

Move to the neck, draw them with clear and dark lines. On the neck we draw a collar with sharp spikes. Next, connect all three necks on the torso, as shown in the example drawn by our artists.

Step 6

In this step, we draw the outline of the forefoot with clear and dark lines. Note that the right leg is quite muscular.

Step 7

Now let’s do the same operation, but with the return of our sinister dog. That is, using clear and dark lines, we draw the body, legs and tail with a pointed end. Gently erase remaining unnecessary guides from the Cerberus drawing.

Step 8

If you did everything exactly as in our example and your drawing resembles our drawing, it’s time to work with the shadows. Using dense and smooth bloom, draw shadows taking into account the angle of incidence of the light, like in our example.
