Grand Canyon Drawing step by step
Step 1. Sketch the first canyon terrain
First, draw the mountainous terrain with multiple layers of rock on the first bank of the canyon, as illustrated.
Step 2. Continue to complete the canyon on the right
Similarly, add more canyon terrain to complete the canyon on the right with many complex layers of soil and rock.
Step 3. Sketch the river
Below the base of the canyon, sketch a winding river flowing through the base of the canyon.
Step 4. Add canyon terrain on the left
Similar to the right, we add canyon terrain on the left with steeper and more layered terrain to show the richness of the steep and rugged canyon landscape. Draw a short horizontal line between the two cliffs to sketch the horizon. Draw a jagged line above the horizon to sketch the rocky terrain in the background.
Step 5. Add Cliff Details
From the curved edges of the canyon rim, draw jagged slopes to form the canyon walls as illustrated.
Step 6. Color the Canyon Drawing
First, color the canyon rim light orange and use a darker orange for the canyon walls. Next, color the bottom of the canyon light brown and the river blue, and on the flat parts of the canyon, color the vegetation green. Now, use yellow to create shadows for the background terrain.
