How to draw a platypus

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start by drawing your mouth. Although ducks are mammals, they have a flat beak like a duck.

Step 2

Now add some details to the face. For eyes, draw two small circles at the end of the beak. For the nostrils, draw a small circle at the other end of the beak.

Step 3

Now draw the neck and foot this side. Do you know? Platypods have membranous feet that they use to swim through water.

Step 4

Next, draw the platypus body. Draw a short line behind the first leg, and a longer line on the other side. Leave plenty of open space on the back of the body – that’s where you’ll add the tail later.

Step 5

Now draw another leg forward. Do not forget to add webbing between toes!

Step 6

Your next step is to paint your hind legs. It looks like the front, but a little longer and more skin.

Step 7

Now that you have drawn the head and body of the platypus, all that remains is the tail. The duckweed has a very broad and flat tail, just like a beaver. This tail helps propeller while underwater, where it can breathe for nearly 30 seconds!

Step 8

Color the platypus to make it more realistic.
