You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

To start this tutorial on how to draw tears, you can start using a pencil.

The reason is because this line will form the bottom of the eye, and the tears you draw in the next few steps will pass through this line.

Using your pencil, draw a horizontal curve like in our reference image. After you have that, we’re ready for the next step!

Step 2 – Start drawing the tears

You can start drawing with a pen in this tear drawing step! To start showing the tears spilling out of the eye, draw some downward curves from the bottom of the eye.

Once satisfied with how it looks, you can use the pen to traverse the curve from the first step.

You can then erase your pencil lines before continuing.

Step 3 – Stretch the tear slightly

This step of our tutorial on how to draw tears will be quite simple but effective.

All you have to do in this step is draw a small circle below the dripping tear to show that it is breaking up into many smaller lines.

Step 4 – Now draw some more shapes below the tear

We will continue to add to your tear drawing in this next step. The shape below this one will be rounded but slightly longer than the previous circle you drew in the previous step.

These shapes will do a lot when it comes to creating a realistic teardrop!

After that shape is drawn, you are ready for step 5!

Step 5 – Draw another teardrop shape for your drawing

The shape that we will draw in this part of the how to draw a teardrop tutorial will look like a regular teardrop shape.

It will be thin at the top and rounded at the end as you can see in our reference image.

Step 6 – Next, draw some eyelashes

Before moving on to the coloring phase of your drawing, we’ll add some final details to really put it together.

To add eyelashes, you can use a few thick and short lines from the bottom of the eye down around to let the tears run down.

Once you’ve drawn your lashes, you’re ready for the final step!

Before proceeding, be sure to add any additional details you want to your drawing. As you can see in the image for our next step, you can even draw an eye to accompany your tear drawing.

Other things you can add would be other elements of the face like the nose or mouth to set the scene for the tears in the rest of the face.

How will you finish your drawing before the final step?

Step 7 – Finish your tear drawing with some colors

Your tear drawing is done now, and all it needs is a little color to complete it! There are many ways that you can do it.

As we mentioned earlier, we added an eye above the tears and you can use it as a guide on how you can draw an eye on your own drawing.

That will give you a good chance to color another element, and you can even color it to look like your own eyes!

For the tear itself, we used a nice light blue color for it so it looks soft and watery. You can also make it more stylish and use some of your favorite bright colors to make it really stand out!

Once you know what color scheme you’re going to go for, you can have a little fun incorporating some great art mediums.

Different mediums can create a different look, so if you want a brighter, more vibrant color scheme, you can use something like acrylic paint or crayons.

Alternatively, if you want a softer, more subtle look then you can use something like crayons or watercolors.

The choice is yours, so how will you color in your tear drawing?
