Step 1. Sketch the substructure
Start by forming the outline of the temple’s substructure.
Step 2. Shape the temple walls
Now, draw a rectangular box on top of the substructure.
Step 3. Draw the entrance
Next, draw rectangles attached to the base of the temple wall. Then add a vertical line to form the visible edges of the entrance.
Step 4. Sketch the stairs
Draw diagonal lines to outline the temple’s stairs.
Step 5. Create the shape of the substructure
Draw horizontal lines to form the stepped shape of the temple’s substructure.
Step 6. Add the side of the stairs
Draw vertical lines attached to the stairs as shown.
Step 7. Sketch the edges of the substructure
Outline the edges of the substructure by drawing vertical lines.
Step 8. Form the stairs
Form the stairs by drawing evenly spaced horizontal lines.
Step 9. Complete the temple drawing
Complete your drawing of a Mayan temple by adding a little color! First, color the stairs with a yellow pencil. Next, color the underlying structure with a light orange pencil. Now, shade the walls of the temple with a brown pencil and the roof with a darker brown. Then, fill in the entrance with a dark blue pencil.
