In this drawing tutorial, I will show you how to draw a thunderstorm step by step. This simple drawing includes large storm clouds, falling raindrops, and a lightning bolt. Follow each step carefully and you can create your own dramatic thunderstorm drawing.

Thunderstorm Drawing step by step tutorial
Step 1: Draw the First Part of the Cloud
Start by drawing the first line of the cloud using a “W”-like shape. Pay attention to the curves—the cloud should have soft, rounded edges rather than sharp corners.
Step 2: Complete the First Cloud
Continue adding curved, bumpy lines to complete the first cloud. Make the outline uneven and fluffy to give the cloud a natural appearance.
Step 3: Add More Details to the Cloud
Add more small, rounded and bumpy shapes inside and around the cloud. These curved details help make the cloud look fuller and more realistic.
Step 4: Draw the Larger Cloud Behind
Draw another larger cloud behind the first one. Use the same rounded, irregular shapes to create a thick layer of storm clouds.
Step 5: Add Lightning and Raindrops
Now draw a lightning bolt coming down from the clouds. Add many small raindrops falling around the lightning to complete the thunderstorm scene.
Step 6: Color the Thunderstorm
Finally, color the storm clouds with dark gray or black, add a bright yellow color to the lightning bolt, and use blue or gray for the raindrops. Your thunderstorm drawing is now complete!
