This is a time lapse video on how to draw rocks or stones with a pencil. Rocks are another important component of landscape drawing. The large empty space on the drawing can be filled with some rocks to make the drawing more interesting. Here is the high-level detail on how to recreate this drawing:
Using a 2B pencil with very light pressure draw the outline of the stone.
Now using the same 2B pencil start shading these rocks.
Consider that the light is coming from the left and that some areas of the rock are facing towards the light. So don’t cover those areas, keep the white paper untouched.
When finished shading the light, go back to the right most part of the rock and shade with a little less pressure to create a darker part.
The areas where the rock is in contact with the ground will also be darker because there is very little light reaching there.
For each rock try to build their shape differently just place the shadow in different areas and that will look more realistic.
Create cracks in some places by applying some darker shadows.
Finally, add some grass to define the ground for the rocks prominently and that will create a nice look rather than just rocks on bare ground.
