You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Let’s start this step by drawing out all the instructions to make it easier for you to draw the Orangutan. Start by drawing the shape of an oval head. Now draw two precise lines coming from either side of the orangutan’s head and draw a line from there to frame the shoulders and long arms. On the ned of the oval, draw a circle that will overlap a larger circle for the monkey’s body. At the ends of the club arm draw two circles for the hands, then move to the left side of the torso and begin to draw the club line for the left foot with one circle for the knee and one for the foot. . On the right side as you can see is a much smaller shape for the legs. Let’s outline all these steps and move on to the next step.

Step 2

Now what you need to do is take a close look at the sketched image and see what you have to do next. I will walk you through this step by step but I just want you to get a mental picture of what you are going to draw. Orangutans have very thick bodies, so what I want you to do is start drawing lines for the actual shape of the ape’s body. You can see when you do this, he’s taken on a form that looks more like an orange-haired monkey.

Step 3

This step like all steps contains instructions on how to detail your orangutan. Start from sketching the face with two small eyes. Then, in the circle that overlaps the face and torso, I want you to outline the mouth and nipple above the lips. Another thing about orangutans is that their lips are very wide and prominent. You notice that when you move down the hand, their fingers look very long and hard. That’s because they use their hands to hang from trees and shred food, so when drawing their fingers, there is no need to be too delicate. The same goes for their feet and legs. Sketch them then draw them in.

Step 4

Adding hair around the head, left shoulder and arms is the next step. Again look at the image to help you get an idea of the type of stroke needed to create this effect. Grab your pencil and just swipe it from side to side going inside. Lightly press the pencil as you do this so that if you make any mistakes, it won’t be difficult to erase it from the paper. The orangutan has a sad expression, which is the expression you are aiming for when sketching facial features. They look like old people with the only difference being that their skin has rough wrinkles instead of smoothness. After completing this step, continue.

Step 5

This is a short step. All you need to do is sketch some more hair on the top of the monkey’s head. They have very long fur so when you sketch it, keep that in mind. Also, before leaving this step, detail the knuckles of the left and right hands with simple small horizontal lines, and draw the eyelids and pupils of the eyes.

Step 6

Here is another short step. Complete the sketch by outlining the rest of the long body hair. After you’ve done this, the only thing to do is erase all the principles that you drew in step one and clean your work. When you are satisfied with your work, move on to the next step.

Step 7

That you have it is the Sumatran orangutan. Does he look like Bigfoot from Harry and Henderson? I hope you had fun.
