Step 1

Start by outlining the head of the dachshund. Use an “S” shaped line to outline the eyebrows and the top of the nose. Use a curved line to enclose the shape of the eye, with additional curves indicating the lashes and eyelids. Enclose two consecutive smaller circles within the eye and shade between them to indicate the pupil.

Step 2

Use a curved line to enclose the circle of the other eye. Enclose a circle within a circle and shade between them to indicate pupils. Draw a curved line above the eye to form the eyelid. Then, glue an oblong above each eye to make the eyelids.

Step 3

Draw an upside-down triangle with rounded corners to form the dog’s nose. Then, use overlapping curved lines to draw the mouth and lower jaw. Draw a short curved line at the corner of the smiley mouth.

Step 4

Use long and curved lines, doubled back to draw the dog’s ears.

Step 5

Use overlapping curves to draw the dachshund’s shoulders, back, and hips. Then use two curved lines that meet at a gentle point to draw the wagging tail.

Step 6

Use a long, curved line to draw the neck and chest. Then, use overlapping curved lines to form the sides of the legs and toes. Draw a short curved line to continue the dog’s belly.

Step 7

Use overlapping curved lines to draw the top leg, foot, and toe of the other front foot. Note the short curve that encloses the bend of the ankle. Then, extend a long, curved line to continue stroking the dog’s belly.

Step 8

Draw the hind legs. Use overlapping curved lines to outline the top of the shins, feet, and toes.

Step 9

Draw the other leg and the leg using overlapping curved lines.

Step 10

Color your cartoon dachshund dog. The most common colors are sepia or black with patches of tan. Other colors are occasionally seen, such as white with black spots.
