You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

In the first step of the tutorial on how to draw the torso, we will start with simple. For now, we will work on the jaw, neck and shoulders of the torso.

Using some curves, you can start rounding the edges of your jawline, and then have a rounded chin underneath it.

You can then extend two short lines down the neck, and these will extend into the horizontal lines of the shoulders.

That will be all we prepared for this step and now you are ready to move on to the next step!

Step 2 – Next, draw the mouth and shoulders

This part of your body drawing should be a fairly simple one to work on. First, use a curved line for the man’s grin.

Then there will be another much smaller line below it. You can then finish this step by adding two more curved vertical lines at the shoulders to complete them.

Step 3 – Now draw the chest part of the man’s torso

Moving lower in this torso tutorial, we’ll start with the man’s chest next.

To draw them, first use some curved horizontal lines connecting the center for the pectoral muscles.

You can then end these muscles with some small, flat ovals near the center of the muscles.

Step 4 – Next, draw the first arm and start the ribs of the torso

We will add the arms first in this step of your torso drawing. Arms can be one of the hardest parts of the body to draw, so be sure to take it slow as you draw!

Using some curves, you can lengthen the biceps from the shoulders down. Then there will be swelling of the elbow which will then lead to the forearm.

The wrist will be quite thin resulting in the hand having some curves for the fingers.

Once you’ve drawn this arm, you can then use a bumpy line for the side of the left rib. You can then finish the rib section with some other lines inside the contour of the rib, as shown in the reference image.

Step 5 – Now draw the next arm

So far, you’ve drawn one arm in this body tutorial, and while that will make drawing this second one a bit easier, it’s still going to be a bit of a challenge since the arm is in a different position. Another angle with the first part one.

However, the principle will be pretty much the same, and using a reference image you should be able to recreate the muscles you drew earlier, except the shape will be slightly different for each muscle.

Step 6 – Next, draw the abs for your torso drawing

This body drawing of yours already looks great! Now we’ll start adding some smaller details in the next few steps, and they’ll start with the abs in this section.

As you can see in our reference figure, they will be plotted with a number of curves that connect in a particular way.

You can then use some extra lines to start off the shorts he’s wearing.

Step 7 – Draw the final details of the body

The painting is pretty much done at this point, and you only have a few details to add in this body guide.

Using some straight and curved lines, you can complete the drawing by adding the shorts he’s wearing.

Before moving on to the final step, you can also add some elements of your own! They can include the background or can draw the rest of his face and body.

What can you think to complete this body drawing before coloring?

Step 8 – Now finish your torso drawing with some colors

Now that you’ve completed this body drawing, the final step will be to bring it to life with some awesome colors!

In our reference image, we showed you a way you can color in this picture.

However, there are different ways you can do it and this is the step where you should really let your creativity flow and have fun with it!

You can also experiment with different art media depending on the look you want to give it, and you can even combine media for a more dynamic look. We can’t wait to see how you complete this image!
