Goldfish Drawing step by step
Step 1. Sketch the Head and Back
Sketch the top of the fish’s head with a short curve, then extend it to create the hump on the goldfish’s back.
Step 2. Draw the Tail Fin
Next, extend the line from the back to form the tail. When you reach the tip of the tail, double the line. Use wavy lines to create a lively fin.
Step 3. Draw the Belly
Extend the line from the tail up to the head to create the basic outline of the goldfish. Remember to add details for the mouth from the belly up to the head.
Step 4. Draw the Eyes and Gills
On the head, draw a circle for the eye. Then, shade a large circle inside the eye to represent the pupil. Draw curved lines behind the eye and a longer line to separate the body and head to form the gills. Near the base of the head, draw a short line.
Step 5. Draw the Dorsal and Venous Fins
Near the base of the head, draw a short line. Extend a line from there and fold it in half to encircle the pectoral fin.
Use a long, wavy curve to encircle the dorsal fin on the fish’s back. Texture the fin with curves.
Complete the texture for the dorsal fin with curves. Then, draw the ventral fin, erasing if necessary. Draw a short curve on the fish’s belly. From there, extend a curve and a wavy line that meet at a slight point. Texture the fin with long curves.
Complete the drawing of horizontal curves across the ventral fin. Then, sketch the anal fin, a second fin on the fish’s belly. Use wavy and curved lines to sketch the fin, then outline it with curves.
Step 6. Add the tail fin texture
Text the tail fin with long curves as illustrated.
Step 7. Add the scales
Draw on the fish’s body rows of “U” shaped lines – some connected and some separate. These are the scales.
Step 8. Coloring
Let’s color! As the name suggests, most goldfish are orange-yellow or golden yellow. Some have white, black, or red streaks.
