Step 1
Drawing humans is never a simple task, and this is true even if the style is a bit cartoonish.
This difficulty is even stronger when drawing a human in an active pose, but you don’t need to worry!
In this cheerleader drawing tutorial, we’ll break it down into smaller, more manageable steps. For this first step, we will focus on her head, hair, and breasts.
Start by drawing a simple curved line for the lower part of the face. Then we will use some wavy lines with pointed ends for the hair around her face.
You can complete that part with some simple details on the face.
Use some more curves for the contour of her bust and top that she’s wearing, then you can pull in some more bouncy hair around her head.
Finish off with some lines for her waist, and then we can move on!
Step 2 – Now draw her arms and breasts
Continuing with this fan drawing, we will now add her arms and the buoys attached to their heads.
The left arm will extend straight up, while the right arm will curve towards her waist.
Then use some jagged lines for the outline of the contours, and add some detail inside these contours to make them look like nice and soft.
That’s all to do and then we can move on to step 3!
Step 3 – Draw the starting point of her legs in this step
For the third step of this cheerleader tutorial, we’ll start drawing her legs. First, we’ll draw the shorts she’s wearing.
Then use some circles for the top half of her legs. The right leg will be crossed slightly over the left leg, as shown in our reference image.
Step 4 – Next, draw the rest of her legs
You started drawing your fan’s feet in the previous step, and we’ll finish them off in this section.
She’ll be wearing some boots that go all the way down to the knee, and you can use some slight curves to draw these boots.
Due to the way her legs are positioned, we won’t really see much of her left leg.
Once you’ve finished these shoes, we’re ready for the final steps in the next step!
Step 5 – Add the final details to your promotional drawings
Most of the drawing is complete now, but before we move on to the final step of this fan drawing tutorial, there are a few final details to add.
These details will mainly be focused on her outfit, but there will also be some opportunities for you to add your own details and ideas!
First, we’ll add some simple lines to her hair and eyes to give it a little more depth.
Next, we add some stripes and a star to the top that she is wearing, and we also add a stripe to her shorts.
These are the details we’ve added, but if you have other ideas about the decor and style of the outfit she’s wearing, you should definitely go for it!

Step 6 – Finish your cheering drawing with color
Now you have reached the final step of your cheerleader drawing, and in this step you can relax with some coloring fun!
Cheerleaders will often be decked out in bright colors to make them stand out even more, and we certainly applied this approach in our reference image.
We used some blue and red for her outfit, and we used a similar rose red for her outfit.
These are some great colors for this type of outfit, but there are so many more you can choose from!
If you have a favorite sports team or even play for yourself, you can change the colors to match your team.
