Step 1
Start off by drawing a circle. This forms the center of the sun.
Step 2
Draw some tall, narrow triangles on the top of the circle. These triangles serve as the starting point of the sun’s rays. At this point, your drawing will look like a head with pointed hair.
Step 3
Continue to draw tall and narrow triangles around the outside of the circle.
Step 4
Between the drawn triangles, draw smaller, shorter triangles. These triangles form additional rays.
Step 5
Continue drawing smaller triangles until you’ve finished the circuit around the sun.
Step 6
Draw two large ovals in the circle of the sun. These ovals will form the eye of the sun. Above each eye, draw a small, curved shape to create eyebrows.
Step 7
Remove the guides from the sun’s rays. You should now have a separate spike pattern around the sun instead of individual triangles.
Step 8
Draw a small oval in the middle of the sun to indicate the nose. Underneath the nose, draw a wide “U” shaped line. Draw a short curve at each end of the letter “U.” This constitutes the sun’s laughter.
Step 9
Add details to the eyes of the sun. Draw a large oval to form the pupils in each eye. Then draw a small circle to highlight the eyes. Shade between circle and oval shape. In the end, draw a few short and curved lines at the corner of each eye to indicate the lashes.
Step 10
Color your sun. Usually, the suns are colored with different shades of yellow. However, in nature, the sun can also be red or orange.
