Step 1
As you can imagine drawing a snake is sometimes easy but since the black mamba is so amazing, this lesson can be a little more difficult than other snake tutorials. Start with a circle for the head and then add guides on the face. Then you would draw the guide lines for the long body as you see here.
Step 2
Now you will begin to lightly outline the shape of the snake’s head and neck. Once done, add the eyes, draw the mouth, then outline the scaly detail these simple-looking snakes have. Don’t forget to draw the snake’s tongue as well.
Step 3
Continue sketching the shape and thickness of the black mamba’s body as you see here. As you know snake belly consists of wide lines like the letter “V”. Once you have clearly drawn the body, add details and strokes as you see here both on the head and belly.
Step 4
Again, continue to outline the snake’s body and then add more strokes for the back of the snake. This can be done by drawing a half-circle that looks dotted for scale shapes. Draw the tip of the tail and then go to the next step.
Step 5
This is your final drawing step. Complete the black mamba’s body outline, and then add details, definition, and outlines in the texture to the snake. But before you do this, you should first start erasing all the guides and shapes that you drew in step one.
Step 6
Your black mamba will appear to look like the one you see here. Once you’re done, you can color the body, then color the mouth part with a shade of black. To emphasize the name of this snake, I have colored the body with black instead of brown. Hope you had fun!
