Step 1
Okay, as always, we’ll start this first step by drawing basic guides and circular shapes. Let’s start on the left hand side and draw a circle for the head. Then draw a smaller circle with two small circles on the side of the small circle for the shoulder frame. Now in the center draw an elongated shape for the body of the saber-toothed tiger. At the end of that shape, draw another rounded shape for the bottom of the animal’s rump with a smaller shape for the hind legs.
Step 2
Look at the pictures and you might know what you’re going to do next. First, go to the head and outline the saber-toothed tiger’s face to help you draw the eyes, nose, and mouth in sections. Now you can go ahead and draw the actual body frame to start sculpting the animal. The front legs are shaped like a sock, and all you have to do is draw a long, curved line for the back and butt areas. Draw the hind legs that look like a candy cane at the top. After you’ve done all these steps, move on to step 3.
Step 3
Now this is where you can get a little confused when drawing faces. The saber-toothed tiger’s mouth is wide open, so the easiest way to draw a face is to start at the ears and then work your way up. This is very simple if you use ste
Step 4
Now all you need to do here is detail and define the saber-toothed tiger’s face, body and tail. Sketch the eyes and make sure they look fierce and powerful. Darken lines on the nose, inside of the mouth, and fangs. Highlight the cat’s face by gently brushing the pencil over the scratch paper in a circular motion. Next, draw claws on all four paws and fluff on all legs. You can now erase all the guides and circles that you drew in step one.
Step 5
This is what your saber-toothed tiger will look like when you’re done. I keep the tails long because even though they have short bob tails, having a longer tail looks cool. The finished sketch can contain a long or short tail, whichever you choose. After all, you are an artist, and when you are an artist, you can use your imagination non-stop.
