Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below
You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below
Step 1
The first step of this dandelion drawing tutorial can take some patience and skill.
You should start from this dandelion flower by drawing a small oval that will form the center of the dandelion flower.
Then draw some slight curves coming out from this central oval. Each will have a small circle at the end, but you can also use some dots instead.
Once you have completed these aspects, you can draw the stem of the dandelion plant. You’ll want to use a very sharp pencil or a fine-tipped pen for this part.
Ideally, you should draw two curves that run very closely parallel to each other.
If this proves to be a bit difficult, you can draw them a little further or even use a thicker line instead of these two thin lines.
Step 2 – Draw a smaller dandelion flower below the first one
For this part of your dandelion painting, we will add a second small dandelion flower below the first one.
This dandelion will be drawn according to the steps that you used for the first time, except this time it will be smaller and lower. The stem of this one will also be a bit more wavy than the first one.
That’s all there is to this step and we’re ready for the next one.
Step 3 – Draw a third dandelion for your painting
We’ll be adding one more dandelion flower to make a nice trio in this step of the how to draw a dandelion flower tutorial.
Again, you can use the tips from the first step to draw this third shape. It will be a bit further than the previous two pictures you drew.
Now that you have all of your dandelion flowers, we’ll start adding details to them in the next few steps.
Step 4 – Now start drawing some seeds for the dandelion
One of the most notable features of the dandelion is its light seeds that can be blown away by the wind. We’ll start drawing these in this part of your dandelion painting.
This part may look complicated, but it’s not as difficult as it looks! Simply draw some small curved lines coming out from the center of each small arm of the dandelion flower.
After you’ve drawn one or two, you’ll understand it in no time!
Step 5 – Draw the seeds of the remaining dandelions
Now that you are able to draw these seeds, you can finish the beads for the rest of the dandelions in this step of our how to draw a dandelion flower tutorial.
Simply continue to cover the remaining dandelion flowers as you did in the previous step to fill them with beautiful seeds.
The dandelion on the bottom right will have a little less seeds as we will show some of the seeds being washed away in the next step.
Step 6 – Now, add the final details
We’ll finalize your dandelion drawing by adding some final details in this section. To wrap up the steps of this tutorial, all you need to do is draw some floating seeds out of the dandelion flower on the right.
These shapes will look very similar to the ones you drew on the dandelion flowers earlier, except these shapes will be in the air.
Before moving on to the final step, you can also add any additional details you want. Maybe you could draw a background to show where these dandelions are growing!
You could also draw some animals for the background, perhaps a cute rabbit.
These are just a few ideas, but how do you think you would complete this dandelion drawing?
Step 7 – Finish your dandelion painting with some colors
Now that you have finished your painting, you can finish the tutorial on how to draw a dandelion flower by adding some color!
In our reference image, we used some green for the step and placed a yellow dot in the center of each dandelion flower.
However, there are so many things you can do to add any other color you want! You can use your favorite color on the contours of the dandelion to give it a more stylish look.
If you painted the background or some additional elements then you can also color these for more color variations.
For a drawing like this, some watercolors would create a beautifully soft look that goes well with these soft dandelions.
However, whatever medium you use will bring something beautiful to your images, so we can’t wait to see what you decide to use!
