Step 1
Okay are you guys ready? Start with the oversized large guide for the head and then draw the face guides.
Step 2
You will now use the facial guides to draw out the realistic droid shape of C-3PO’s face/chibi head.
Step 3
Next, draw shapes for each eye and then follow the pattern on the inside of the eye. This is the pupil and the depth of the cavities themselves. Before you leave this step, you’ll want to draw the hollow for the nose and then the lining for the mouth. Add some scratches along the edge of the jaw line.
Step 4
I like to call this part his 3PO headband. Go ahead and draw the added structure that makes up the entire head of the 3PO. Add the bolts on the sides.
Step 5
Next draw the body. Instead of creating a neck for the chibi C-3PO, I chose to create a floating style concept that gives the illusion of a neck by painting the inside of the compartment black. This creates a shadow that may contain some idea of what this space is used for. Draw in the baby’s chubby arms and then the elastic fingers to form the hand. Add lining along the arms for a robotic look in 3PO’s design. Don’t forget those traces.
Step 6
Finish drawing the C-3PO chibi by creating the legs, torso, hips and legs. Add details to his droid-generated body before removing errors and tutorials.
Step 7
When you’re done, here’s what his design looks like. Chibi C-3PO is ready to color and show off.
