You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

To draw pancakes correctly, you should first draw a wide and short cylinder. You can draw the cylinder higher or lower – it depends on the number of pancakes in the stack. Note that in the early stages you should use light and smooth lines for general outlines.

Step 2

Use curved lines to outline the contours of the pancakes in the stack. Try to draw all lines the same distance from each other. Sketch a plate under the stack. It looks like two figures – the rim is wide and flat and the bottom is short. The sketch of the pancake is done, and from the next stage we will start working on the details.

Step 3

Draw the contours of each pancake – they don’t have to be smooth and symmetrical. The edge of each pancake should be wavy and not coincide with the border of the bottom and top pancakes. Remove the unwanted principles from the stack and move on to the next step of the pancake drawing tutorial.

Step 4

Darken the lines of the pancake and plate. At the top, draw outlines of the darkest areas of the upper pancake – they are different sizes and extend in different directions, but they are all oval and round.

Step 5

To make our pancakes look more realistic, let’s add some shadows. First, we need to determine the light source. As you can see, the light hits this stack of delicious pancakes from the top right. So we will add shadow to the bottom left. If your pancakes look similar to ours, you’ve got everything right.
