Step 1
To start Chikorita, we will first need to draw a large pea-shaped oval divided by a horizontal and vertical line.
Step 2
Along the horizontal line, draw Chikorita’s large oval eyes with a large pupil inside each eye.
Step 3
Next, we’ll need to draw Chikorita’s wide smiling mouth. She’s always smiling, so drawing a big “U”-shaped mouth gives us the happy look she’s famous for.
Step 4
Next, draw two triangles near the bottom of Chikorita’s body for her front legs. Alternatively, draw a round claw at the end of each Chikorita’s paw.
Step 5
Following the same steps, draw Chikorita’s hind legs just below her body and also a small triangular tail behind her. And like the front legs, Chikorita must also have round claws on the hind legs.
Step 6
Next, draw a long curved line extending from the top of Chikorita’s head upwards. This line will be our guide to draw the leaf on top of her head.
Step 7
Following the curve from the last step, draw the outline of the Chikorita leaf. The leaf is very large, almost as big as the entire body of Chikorita.
Step 8
Next, draw a circle around the center of Chikorita’s body. She doesn’t really have a neck, so this circle helps define Chikorita’s head with the rest of her body.
Step 9
Finally, add some Chikorita color. Of course since she’s a grass-type pokemon, she needs to be colored with different shades of green. Give her a bright red eye, and she’s done!
