You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Here is an example sketch of what two different sized heads would look like. The top head is that of a large snake, and the lower head is that of a small snake.

Step 2

If you look at this sketch of a snake’s head, you’ll see how a snake’s eyes are aimed at their snout.

Step 3

This is an extremely rough sketch of the many views and designs of the snake head. As you can see, the snake can have many different expressions and you figure out what kind of head you want to draw.

Step 4

This is a combined tutorial of four different heads drawn as a three-step lesson. I hope you enjoyed this step and maybe it will make it easier for you to draw your own snake head.

Step 5

Draw the shape of the snake’s head, and then draw a guide line through the center of the head.

Step 6

Draw the shape of the snake’s head and the upper part of the snout. Notice the notch on the top of the head.

Step 7

Now you will draw the back of the head, and then the lower part of the stretched jaw.

Step 8

Draw the eye with the bad expression you see here, and then add the nostrils. Once that is done, outline some details and definitions in the middle of the head.

Step 9

Make an outline around the edge of the snake’s mouth as you see here, then draw the eyeball and make the pupil incision. Create a curved line at the back of the mouth for the tongue.

Step 10

Draw the fangs, the slithering tongue, and then the soft tissue of the tongue. Add some more inside the mouth.

Step 11

The last thing you need to do is draw the neck and then add some proportions and strokes to the upper body. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one.

Step 12

Here’s what the drawing will look like when you’re done. Color it and you’re done.
