Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below
You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below
Step 1
In this scythe tutorial, we’ll draw a pretty, ornate version of the tool.
The scythe that we are going to draw looks like it would be right at home in an epic horror or fantasy story!
To start things off, we’ll start with the blade of the scythe. Use a single curve for the top of the scythe as shown in our reference image.
Then create a pointed end and extend another shorter curve for the first half of the bottom edge.
There will then be a sharp, round hole on the bottom edge, and when it’s drawn you’ll be ready to move on to the next step.
Step 2 – Next, draw the rest of the scythe
We can now complete the travel scythe drawing in this next step. Just like the rest of the scythe, this part will be ornate and detailed.
You can start by drawing a circle near the back of the blade. Then draw a smaller circle near it.
After these circles are drawn, you can draw some more curves for the curved outline of the scythe as they appear in our example.
It will then move on to step 3 of the tutorial, so continue when you’re ready!
Step 3 – Now draw the starting point of the handle for the scythe
We’ll leave behind the blade for now as we begin to draw the handle in this step of the scythe tutorial.
While this is just the handle, that doesn’t mean we won’t make it as detailed and ornate as the blade!
You should use a light pencil and a ruler to draw straight lines of the handle.
You can then use the pen to draw angular details that stick around the handle and outward.
Make sure you also go through the straight lines of the stick itself before you move on to step 4!
Step 4 – Next, draw some more handles
Continuing with this scythe drawing, we can now add some details to the handle.
If you used our pencil line drawing suggestions before, you can now use your pen and ruler to draw the rest of the edge for the handle.
Once we’ve finished drawing, we’ll add some details to the end of the handle.
This part will be thin and angular with an almost lightning shape. Once we’ve finished drawing, we’re ready to finalize the details and elements in the next step of the tutorial.
Step 5 – Add the final details to your scythe drawing
Now you’re ready to complete the final and detailed steps in this fifth step of our scythe tutorial!
The main thing that we will do in this step is to draw the rest of the handle. Use the pen to draw the rest of the stick of the handle, then finish the details at the end of the handle.
Once you’ve drawn it, you can add some more curvilinear detail to the blade of the scythe. Then you’re ready to color your creation when we get to the final step!
Before you do, you can also paint the background or some of the accessories that go with this awesome scythe. We can’t wait to see how you complete it!
Step 6 – Complete your scythe drawing with color
You have reached the final step of this scythe drawing and now you are ready to color to perfect it for real. In our reference image, we kept the colors we used a little darker and muted.
You can take a similar approach with your own, but this is your drawing and you should also feel free to use any of your own color choices you might like!
Then you might as well have a little fun deciding on the art mediums and tools you’ll use to achieve your color selection. Be sure to have fun with it and see what happens!
Your Scythe drawing is done!
You have completed all 6 steps of this scythe tutorial and you should have a beautiful picture at the end of it.
