How to Draw a Nose for beginners

Please see the drawing tutorial in the video below

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1: Start with a circle

Draw a circle for the shadow of the nose and 2 curves on each side for the bridge. Keep the strokes so they can be deleted in the following steps.

Step 2: Draw a simple guide for the nose shape

Draw a line across the middle of the circle and shape like a diamond around it for the nostril.

Step 3: Shade around the bridge of the nose and tip of the nose

The shade is around the outside of the bridge and around the inside of the circle, forming a long U U shape. You will notice a thicker shade at the top of the bridge. That’s because the bridge of the nose leads into the frontal bone. Don’t worry if the rules you created earlier don’t blend with your shadows. We will darken the drawing later.

Step 4: Draw the nostril

Follow the diamond shape to create the nostril. Now it begins to come together!

Step 5: Burn the nose

Cover your nostrils and remember to leave some areas unaffected so you can highlight them later.

Step 6: Create a nose shape

Shape and contour of bridge and shadow of nose. You can paint shadows around the top of the circle to make the nose look like a pointer or shade the middle of the circle to give it a flatter look. Use the eraser to dot areas that appear too dark, any lines that show through or areas you want to highlight.

Step 7: Mix your ball

Next, you want to use a stump (learn how to use a stump here) to gently blend the skin and give it a softer look. Add some touches and go through your highlighted areas again with a kneading tool. You can try different diamond shapes as well as circles to create more unique nose shapes. Experiment with balls to achieve longer, flatter or more defined noses and such.
