Step 1
The drawing process starts with the main contours of the body. With the help of long, smooth and light lines, we need to draw the contours of the McLaren’s bodywork, as shown in our example. Do not press too much on the pencil because it will be easy to erase these lines later.
Step 2
We continue to use light trails. In this step we will add the most basic lines on our bodywork. Let’s start from the front, outlining the outline of the headlights. Next, go to the side of the car, outline the contours of the rearview mirror and the large sports wheel.
Step 3
We continue to add the most noticeable details on the bodywork. At the front of the car, we outline intricate bumpers. Draw more borders of the front and side windows. Draw lines on the side of the car and outline contours on the wheels.
Step 4
In the previous steps we used very bright lines, and starting with this step we will use darker ones. With the help of such lines, carefully draw the front part, bumpers, hood (or bonnet, if you live in the UK) and the large and smooth headlights.
Step 5
Continuing the smooth contours of the front, we draw the contours of our McLaren’s flat and smooth roof. In the same step, draw the outline of the window and the rearview mirror.
Step 6
Continuing the slick lines of the roof drawn out to the back of our car. In the same step, carefully draw the decorative side and door lines. Don’t forget to get rid of all the unnecessary tutorials we drew in the first three steps.
Step 7
One of the hardest steps in our lesson is how to draw a McLaren 720s. With the help of the smooth lines here, we need to draw the wheels and the ring. You can draw contours like in our examples or design your own.
Step 8
It’s still just to make our McLaren 720s drawing more realistic and voluminous. To do this we add the shadow using the hatch feature. Paint a dense shadow for dark areas and less dense for bright areas of shadows. On the glass and body also paint some glare with the help of long light and brush strokes.
