Step 1. Sketch the head
Sketch the shape of the dunkleosteus’s head similar to the illustration.
Step 2. Draw facial features
Start by drawing a small circle for its eye. Next, add a small dot for its nostrils.
Step 3. Shape the bone plates on the lower jaw
Form the jawbone plates below the fish’s head by drawing curved lines as shown.
Step 4. Attach the fins under the belly
Now, draw two curved triangles near its lower body.
Step 5. Draw the back, dorsal fin, and tail
Next, draw a curved line for the back extending from the head. Draw a V-shaped curve attached to the upper part of its body to form its back. Then, form the tail fin by drawing a shape attached to the end of the body as shown.
Step 6. Add some details
Finally, to complete the drawing, add some patterns on the fish’s body and some lines on the fins to make it look more realistic.
Step 7. Complete the Dunkleosteus drawing
Finally, give life to your drawing of an armored prehistoric fish by adding some color! Here we show only black and white. However, you can add additional colors as follows: first, color the eyes with a black pen. Next, shade its sharp teeth with a white pen. Now, color its fins with a dark blue pencil. Then, color the dunkleosteus’s body with a blue pencil.
