Step 1
If you are drawing on paper, it is best to use a regular pencil. If you are using sketch paper, use a good quality sketch pencil for 6b. However, when you are lightly sketching out a portrait, use a 2b long pencil to do all the sketches and use 6b for shading. Start with a circle for the face and or head. Add guides on the face, then draw a placement bar line that specifies the pose of the face you’re drawing.
Step 2
The first thing you want to do here is to lightly outline the shapes of her eyes, nose, and mouth with a 2hb pencil. Once done, go back and sketch around her eyes with the 6b pencil. This is to darken the top of the eye and widen the bottom of the eye as you see here.
Step 3
This step has a lot of work to do then the previous step. The first thing you want to do is outline the shape of her face. Once done, outline her lower lids and her lashes. As you can see the lashes are very thick. You can make them look like this by lightly sketching out the lower lashes first, and then highlighting those same lines with the 6b pencil. After finishing the sketching of her mouth, eyebrows, and then the starting lines for her long and straight hairstyle.
Step 4
All you have to do here is sketch the strands of hair. Start the sketching process with snug pieces, and then you can expand the thread at the end. Once done, you can move on to the next and final drawing step.
Step 5
Complete the outline of her long hair as you can see here. Next add the shadow on the left side of her neck, and then add the shadow on the right side of her face. Also, you have to draw her shoulder and then start erasing all the lines and shapes you drew in step one.
Step 6
When you’re done, the sketch of this famous face will look like the one you see here. You can choose to color her or leave her as a sketch.
