Step 1
Start this lesson by drawing a circle for the shape of Caterpillar’s head, and then add face guides. Draw a single line that will form the wireframe for his body.
Step 2
You will now begin to sketch the shape of the Caterpillar’s head structure. As you can see the front part of his head is arranged with curls inward like that. Continue this same lining to form the structure of the face, and the shape of the worm resembles the body.
Step 3
I used a reference photo to pose for this Hookah smoking caterpillar and that pose shows him in a relaxed gesture. His arms were behind his head, and his face narrowed as if he were breathing in his smoke. Finish drawing the shape of the back of his head, then draw the eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth holes. Next, draw the center lining that will separate the body from the abdomen.
Step 4
Like all caterpillars, he also has many arms and or legs. It is thought that he had six legs and feet, and six arms and hands. Draw all of his arms behind his head, then all shins and feet spread out on the surface for an added sense of relaxation. His shoes look Arabic, which means make sure you draw the curved toe properly. Add some detail to the forehead and chin, then move on to the next step.
Step 5
All you have to do here is draw ventral lines that will add texture to this insect surface. Once that’s done, you can start erasing all the principles and shapes that you drew in step one.
Step 6
For your final drawing step, all you have to do is draw in his eyeballs, then draw the hookah trunk in his mouth, then draw the hookah’s flexible straw or hose.
Step 7
