Let’s start with some tips for drawing a howling wolf. When a wolf howls, it will tilt its head back, its ears are folded and close to its neck, its eyes are closed or almost closed, and its mouth has a specific shape. Look at the picture, especially at the larger drawing.
The howling wolf’s mouth can be slightly open to wide. Look in the image how it changes depending on the movement of the mission. Remember: only the lower part of the muzzle (the lower part) moves, not the upper part.
Now that you can draw the head and especially the mouth of a howling wolf, we can draw the whole body. Start with instruction lines. The wolf has a slim and strong body.
Draw the outline of the head, the mouth open (see steps 1 and 2), the eyes closed, and the long hair at the neck.
Add a nose, teeth, part of the lower lip, and long fur to the ears.
Draw the shoulders, front legs, and front feet. The front feet have five clawed toes, the claws are not retractable. Part of the foot pad is visible.
Draw the back and belly, here the fur is long.
Draw the hind legs, hind paws (four toes), and long hairy tail.
Add the fur, muscles, whiskers and other details and you’re done!
Wolves don’t howl only when they’re standing. They can howl while sitting, lying on the ground, and moving.
