Easy Drawing Guides

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

Start by sketching the dog’s face. Use an “S” shaped line to shape the forehead and top of the snout. Then draw an irregular circle to form the nose. Draw a “U” shaped line below the nose to form the bottom of the snout and smiley mouth. Draw a short and curved line below to form the neck.

Step 2

Continue to draw the dog’s head. Sketch out the rounded triangles to form the ears. Place a similar shape inside each ear. Then, use a curve to form the back of the head and neck. Draw a long “S” shape from the nose to the neck, indicating the change in color. Draw one teardrop shape for the eye and another one above to form the eyebrow.

Step 3

Draw the dog’s necklace. Use long and curved lines to surround the shape of the collar. Draw a circle below it to represent the dog’s tag. Use a short curve to give the card a three-dimensional look.

Step 4

Use long and curved lines to outline the dog’s back and hind legs. Notice the sharp overlap of the lines on the back, which indicates the texture of the fur. Also, note the overlap in the tip of the foot pointing to the toes.

Step 5

Draw the front leg. Use long lines to create the legs and a short, curved line to form the front of the shoulders. Use overlapping “U”-shaped lines to wrap your feet and form your toes.

Step 6

Use a series of short, curves that meet at jagged points to form a colored patch on the dog’s chest.

Step 7

Draw the other foreleg using a series of curves and lengths. Note the jagged spots that show the bristles texture. Use “U” shape lines to surround the foot and form toes.

Step 8

Draw the other hind leg using a pair of horizontal lines and the “U”-shaped lines overlap to form the toes.

Step 9

Draw the curled, spiral tail of the dog. Note the hairy “U”-shaped lines at the base of the tail. Draw a zigzag line through the bottom of each leg, just above the leg.

Step 10

Color your Shiba Inu. They are usually a combination of white, ginger, tanned, red or black. Then check out our animal drawing tutorials where you can find both puppies and other pets.
