You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

We draw a creature with a horse head and a human body. So overall, we draw a human skeleton using lines of light. To learn more about drawing the human body, visit our lesson on drawing a man.

Step 2

Now we are sketching the ears and a long snout. Next, using simple geometries, we outline the body and the shapes of the limbs. Here and in the previous step we use very light lines.

Step 3

Using clear and bold lines, carefully draw the outlines of the eyes and muzzle. Removes unnecessary instructions from face. By the way, to learn more about horse heads, visit the lesson on how to draw horse heads.

Step 4

Now carefully draw long ears, the contour of a strong and muscular neck, and a long mane above the head and neck.

Step 5

Now let’s move on to the body of the creature and draw the outline of the broad chest and abdominal muscles.

Step 6

Now arm. Draw them using clear and dark lines, taking all the lines of the muscles into account. Here we draw two arms, but you can make your creature more interesting by drawing four arms, like in the Goro tutorial.

Step 7

Now move lower and draw a loincloth like in our example. Next, draw the strong leg with all the muscle lines on the leg. Note that instead of feet, we draw horseshoes.

Step 8

Let’s make our fantasy creature more realistic by adding shadows drawn using different intensity hatching. To make the shadow darker, add another hatch layer.

As we said, today we draw the general picture of a mythical creature. Using the tips from this lesson, you can draw a different creature than we showed in our example. Alternatively, you can visit our catalog titled “Myths and legends” to learn how to draw other mythical and fantasy creatures.
