Azz Easy Drawing

You can refer to the simple step-by-step drawing guide below

Step 1

To start this cartoon light bulb tutorial, we’ll start with the bulb itself first. It’s drawn with a pretty simple line, but it can still be a bit tricky to get right!

We wanted the bulb to be smooth and round to look like a real bulb and so it might take a little steadiness.

If you’re having a hard time getting it to look perfectly smooth and rounded, you can slowly draw with a pencil and then redraw with the pen. Once the bulb is done, we can move on to step 2!

Step 2 – Next, start drawing the screw in

Like many other bulbs, this is a bulb that you can screw into the socket and we’ll start drawing the screw in in this second step.

You can start this simply by drawing a slight curve extending inward at the ends, as shown in our reference image.

This will be the top part of the bulb’s screw-in unit, and we’ll add some more to it as we proceed with the next steps.

Step 3 – Now draw the next part of the screw part

In this part of your cartoon light bulb drawing, we will add another section to the bolted part of the bulb.

To do this, we’ll basically repeat what we did in the previous step of the tutorial. That means drawing an identical curve moving inward at the ends.

It will be right below the previous one, and then we can move on to step 4!

Step 4 – Next, draw some more screw sections

Now we can draw the last part of the screw, but this time it will be a little different.

This will be the last part of this type for the screw part of the bulb, so this time we’ll close this by drawing a curved line below it.

This is the end of this screw section, but we’re not done with this part of the bulb yet! You’ll see what we mean in the next step of the tutorial.

Step 5 – Now draw the final detail for the screw

In the previous step of our tutorial on how to draw cartoon light bulbs, we mentioned that there is one final part to draw for the screw part of the bulb.

That’s what we’ll be adding in this fifth step. Luckily, this is a pretty easy thing to do!

To add this last part, all you need to do is add one more curve below the twist of the screw you drew.

That’s really all it takes and then you’re ready for step 6.

Step 6 – Next, draw some eyes for the bulb

This isn’t just any light bulb we’re drawing here, as this one has a funny face on it! We’ll start drawing that face in this step of the tutorial, and we’ll start with the eyes.

Start by drawing a large, vertical oval, then attach another similarly sized shape to it. Then add a smaller oval inside each eye, and then add a solid black pupil inside each of these ovals.

Finally for this step, add a thick brow above each eye, and then we’ll finish every last detail in the next step!

Step 7 – Finish the surface of the bulb

Now we can finish this cartoon light bulb drawing with some final details on the face. Start by drawing a curved line below the eyes for the top of the smiley mouth.

Then we’ll draw some more curves down from the mouth to show that it’s open. Finally, draw a tongue inside the mouth and then add a small line below the mouth.

Once the facial details have been added, you can also add any additional details of your own that you might like!

Perhaps you could draw a fun background to show where to hang this cartoon light bulb. What ideas do you have for this image?

Step 8 – Now finish it with some color

The last step of this tutorial is definitely a fun one, as you can now finish with some coloring fun!

In our reference image, we used some bright, vibrant yellow for the bulb itself to show that it is lit.

You can use the same colors for your own, and you can even use the colors around the bulb to show the light coming out of it!

What colors and mediums will you choose to complete your work?
