Step 1

To start this tutorial on how to draw a beach ball, we will start with the outline for the ball. As you can imagine, this means we will draw a circle.

This doesn’t have to be a perfect circle, but if you want to create a perfect circle you can use a tool like a drawing compass to easily draw on it.

Otherwise, do your best to slowly draw things as close as you can to a perfect circle.

Beach balls are usually a bit irregular in shape, so that’s why it doesn’t really matter if it doesn’t turn out to be a perfect circle.

However you still draw it in the end, once this circle is complete you’ll be ready to move on to the second step of the tutorial!

Step 2 – Next, draw the first details for the beach ball

A beach ball is almost always decorated by having various segments on it. We will start drawing these details in this second part of your beach ball drawing.

For now, we will focus on the detail on the left side of the ball. To do this, simply draw a circle on the upper left side of the ball.

Then draw a series of curved lines from this circle. Now, we will draw four of these curves.

One person will come out from the bottom of the circle, another will extend upwards and then the other two will go to the left.

Then it will be moved to step 3!

Step 3 – Now draw another line for the detail

We’ll keep things simple in this third step of our tutorial on how to draw a beach ball. We’ll just add a little bit of detail on the ball that you started with in the previous step.

All you need to do is draw another curved line extending from the top of the small circle and extending all the way to the right hand side of the beach ball.

Try following the curvature of the lines we used in our reference image if you can! Then we can continue to add details in the next section.

Step 4 – Next, draw the last line of the part

This fourth part of your beach ball drawing will see you add the final line detail to the ball. To complete the beach ball segments, simply draw one more of those long, curved lines.

This will fill in the last remaining space in the ball and will complete the detail nicely.

Once you’ve drawn all the segments of the beach ball, we’ll be ready to add the details and final strokes in step five, so let’s move on to that step!

Step 5 – Add the final details to your beach ball drawing

Before you color your work, we first have a few final details to add to this step of the tutorial on how to draw a beach ball.

These details will seem pretty small, but they will make a big difference! Simply draw some lines that run parallel to the segmented lines you’ve drawn so far.

These lines will also be sharp when they reach the inner edge of the beach shadow outline. Once they are drawn, you can add some details of your own!

One idea to do is to draw the background.

The obvious choice would be to paint a great beach scene and this would be a great opportunity for you to show off the toys and other objects you enjoy with this beach ball on the beach!

Step 6 – Complete your beach ball drawing with color

Beach balls will usually come in some bright and fun colors to decorate them with, and that’s why we’re adding some color to your beach ball drawing in this final step!

In our reference image, we used some red, yellow and blue for some parts of the ball while using some gray and white for the middle segments.

You can choose some similar colors for your own painting, but this will also be a great opportunity to incorporate some of your own favorite colors.

This is your chance to get creative, so have fun with it and see what happens!

Your beach ball drawing is done!

That ends our step by step tutorial on how to draw a beach ball in 6 steps!

Objects like these seem simple, but when you sit down to draw them, they can often be a little more complicated than expected. Hopefully with the help of the steps in this tutorial, you find it fun and easy to do!
